Using Auto-lock with Amazon

Amazon often charges your card hours or even days after you place an order, usually when the item ships. If auto-lock is enabled on your physical card, this can often cause declines.

Here are a few ways to pre-approve Amazon charges:

Option 1: Add envelope virtual cards to your Amazon wallet

For example: if you want to buy clothes on Amazon, you could pay using your "Clothing" envelope's virtual card. You can add a virtual card to an envelope in the envelope settings.

Option 2: Buy Amazon gift card credits

You can buy Amazon gift card credits with your Envelope card before shopping. The card is charged immediately, and you can use the credits for your Amazon purchases.

Option 3: Add your general virtual card to Amazon

You can save your general virtual card to Amazon to reduce declines from delayed charges. You won’t be able to pre-select a specific envelope, but Amazon cannot charge more than the checkout amount without a separate purchase or adjustment.

Option 4: Create a dedicated Amazon envelope

Create an “Amazon” envelope, add funds to it, and connect a virtual card to that envelope. Then save that card to your Amazon account for future purchases.
