  1. Download Envelope from the App Store or Play Store

  2. Verify your email, phone, and personal info

  3. Choose to create a new account or join a partner's

  4. Pay the membership fee (only applies when creating a new account)

What personal info does Envelope ask for?

  • Name

  • Address

  • Phone number

  • Email address

  • Date of birth

  • Social Security Number

In some cases, we may ask for additional information or documents (such as a driver's license) to confirm your identity. We only request this when necessary.

Why do you need my social security number (SSN)

Like all financial institutions in the US, we're required to verify your identity to comply with the USA Patriot Act

Who can open an Envelope Account?

Any U.S. resident who is at least 18 years old with a Social Security Number can apply for an account with Envelope.
