Direct deposit
Direct deposit sends payroll or benefit payments directly to your Envelope account. Eligible deposits may be available up to two days* before the scheduled payment date, depending on when the payer submits the payment file.
Set up direct deposit
Open the Account tab in Envelope.
Copy your personal account number and routing number.
Enter them in your employer's or benefits provider's payroll system.
If asked for the financial institution, use:
Pacific West Bank
1300 SW 5th Ave, Suite 900
Portland, OR 97201Confirm whether the payer needs a specific account type, deposit amount, or effective date.
Download the blank Envelope direct-deposit form. If you need a form populated with your account details, request one through Message Support in the app.
You can also ask the payer to split a paycheck between Envelope and another account when its payroll system supports split deposits.
When will my deposit arrive?
Envelope posts a direct deposit after its banking partner receives and processes the payment file. Deposits post on business days throughout the day. Envelope cannot see or track the payment while it is still moving through the payer's or ACH network's processing steps.
Early availability is not guaranteed. It depends on when the payroll or benefits provider submits the payment file.
If a deposit is missing
Confirm the expected payment date with the employer or benefits provider.
Ask when the payment file was submitted.
Verify that the payer has your current Envelope account and routing numbers.
Check whether a bank holiday changed the processing schedule.
Collect the ACH trace number from the payer
If the payer confirms delivery but the deposit still does not appear, contact Envelope Support from the app with the payment date, amount, and ACH trace number.
Bank holidays
Banks and the ACH network do not process payments on federal banking holidays. A deposit scheduled around a holiday may arrive on the next business day or, in some cases, up to two business days later.
Common banking holidays include New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
After the deposit arrives, funding rules can move part of each paycheck into envelopes automatically.
